Geochemistry : Collection and sampling

A total of 173 runoff sediment samples of 1st, 2nd and 3rd order, collected along the streams of the study area, were collected and recorded.

The collection and recording of information on 271 rock samples for geochemical analysis was carried out. Two types of geochemical sampling were carried out, the first geochemical sampling consisted of the collection of 129 outcrop orientation samples (rock chips), and the second type of geochemical sampling consisted of the collection of 142 systematic samples in mesh (rock chips), with a distance of 100mx25m between samples.

The collection of 14 unaltered rock samples representative of each lithological unit of the study area was carried out and their respective information was recorded for geochemical analysis by total rock, the size of each rock sample collected was up to 2.5 kg.

A total of 15 samples of rock outcrops and hydrothermal alterations were collected and registered, for petro-mineragraphy and electron microscopy studies, the samples collected in the field of the area under study, are representative of each lithological unit, and sent to the laboratory of Dr. Gladys Ocharán, (2006).
